Contourtable is a table that uses generative design and simulation processes to explore the feel of movement within a still object. The overall form is generated with the simulated properties of a fluid in a state of advection. Once the simulation is frozen, the geometry is then digitally manipulated in order to further amplify the sculptural qualities of the form. The physical design incorporates two alternating types of CNC milled 1/4″ plywood, and the final form is cut in half and capped with a single plate of glass to provide functional table space for people to use.
